We've been such troopers braving the frigid cold! The whole class has been champions, changing in and out of their gear every day! Thank you for sending in the appropriate gear to help them be outdoors-ready.
Math Groups
This week for math groups we are worked on building our number sense. We did this by looking at all of the different ways we can represent a number. Number sense is super important because it helps us understand numbers and their relationships, which is a key component of mathematical fluency!
In our other math group, we’ve been playing more games to build our fluency with addition and subtraction. We also started using the "3-Reads" strategy to carefully examine every part of a story problem. This approach helped us avoid missing important details and allowed us to spot tricky parts. For example, some story problems asked us to solve for an unknown part! We also have a menu of strategies that helps us explain our math thinking clearly, so others can understand how we solved the problem when they look at our work.
Bug Research
This week, our classroom has been abuzz with curiosity about bugs! As we delve deeper into our interests, we’re considering which bug to research as a class. Epic!, a digital reading tool we tried for the first time, has been a wonderful resource to spark our exploration. It’s not only helpful but also a lot of fun! Ask your child which bug they think would be the most interesting to learn more about—we’d love to hear their ideas! Stay tuned for updates on where our bug journey takes us. 🐜🦋🐝
Happy Birthday Georgie!
Thank you for taking the time to read to us!
